The St. Vincent de Paul Society of Covington is a private non-profit organization that provides support to the needy through a variety of assistance programs. Types of assistance include, but are not limited to, clothing, food, rent, utilities, furniture and durable medical equipment.
While the Society is a Catholic lay organization, help is provided to all needy individuals regardless of race, color, creed, age, sex or national origin. In fact, the majority of individuals that receive assistance are non-Catholic.
Although most programs are carried out by Vincentians at the parish (conference) level, the Society also utilizes volunteers and an extremely small staff. These individuals are guided and motivated by both the mission statement and core values of the Society in all they do.
It is our duty to prefer the service of the poor to everything else and to offer such service as quickly as possible. If a needy person requires medicine or other help during prayer time, do whatever has to be done with peace of mind. Offer the deed to God as your prayer.... Charity is certainly greater than any rule. Moreover, all rules must lead to charity.
